I knew that one. And I know people from all three countries.
But half of Adelaide still has main roads at 1-mile intervals and McDonalds still sell quarter pounders.

Ouch!
However, back around 1976, American school children began to be taught the metric system and were assured the whole country would be switched over with 10 years.
I’m still waiting…
It’s actually a pretty classic picture of a failed change process. No sense of urgency to sustain the “good idea.”
