My fear is that a focus on being incarnational sometimes focuses on ‘how can I be like these people’.
Most of the people that I have heard using the term don’t really think this way. It is more a question of ‘how can I be with these people’. While we live incarnationally among the world, we represent an alternative kingdom in their midst.
Withdrawal and separation isn’t the answer. Neither is overcontextualization. Incarnation represents a way of being sent without abandoning our unique identity as the people of God.
